Introduction
Chile is now the fifth largest exporter of wines in the world, and the ninth largest producer. Chile has some of the world’s most spectacular vineyards. Bounded by the Atacama Desert, the Pacific Ocean, snow-capped Andes and southern ice fields, this is the only wine region where both cacti and snow are interspersed amongst vines. Chilean wine production dates back more than 400 years. Spanish colonists, quick to recognize the terrain as ideal for viticulture, were the first to plant vines in the valleys that would come to define Chilean wine regions. They started with País, which would be the primary grape for Chilean wine for the next 300 years, until globetrotting Chileans, flush from the country’s agricultural and mining riches, brought home French vines to grow their favorite Bordeaux varieties. The best Chilean wines now include Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc. The signature grape for Chilean red wine is Carmenère – fruity, spicy and low in tannins.

Montes Sauvignon Blanc 2014
A crisp and fruity wine. Light yellow-green color; bright and clear. The aroma shows pure and intense Sauvignon Blanc character, showing the potential of its cold-zone origin in coastal Leyda Valley, where the morning fogs and low temperatures prolong the hanging period. On the palate it is refreshingly crisp, sparkling, soft and sumptuous, showing great complexity, very fresh and crispy with a nice structure at mid palate showing tropical fruits, peaches, pineapples and citric accents. A powerful coastal climate Sauvignon Blanc with an impressive overall freshness and elegant minerality and a long finish.
88 Points – Wine Enthusiast;

Montes Classic Series Malbec 2014
Ruby red color, leaning to dark, intense red. Powerful, but with elegant flavors of plum and blackberry. A lovely butterscotch and slight spiciness is well integrated with subtle notes of vanilla from the oak ageing. A full-bodied wine, with ripe tannins and voluptuous mid-palate and a long, very enjoyable, finish. Pairing: Highly recommended with spaghetti with Bolognese sauce, cheeses, steak with French fries, rice dishes with strong sauces.

Santa Ema Carmenere Barrel Select 2010
Chile produces the vast majority of Carménère wines available today. An intense violet-red, this Carmenère has well-balanced aromas that recall black cherries, fine herbs, black pepper, and a bit of chocolate. This wine is well-rounded with big body and good concentration. It has a pleasing fruity finish.

Amplus Old Vine Carignan 2013
Carignan is a late budding and ripening grape which requires a warm climate in order to achieve full physiological ripeness.
Color: Deep, violet-ruby-red. Aroma: Intense fruity aromas of cherries, raspberries, and blackberries complimented by rich notes of dark chocolate, nutmeg, and roasted coffee beans. Palate: Well-structured and full of character with an abundance of creamy tannins, bright and refreshing acidity, and plenty of fresh fruit on its delightfully long, elegant finish.

Vina Maipo Protegido Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
James Suckling -
“Wow. This is a rich red with licorice and currant character plus hints of blackberries. Full body, polished and refined tannins and a flavorful finish. Better in 2015 but delicious already. Reminds me of a serious Napa cab like one of Bond’s.”- 94 Points
Wine Enthusiast -
“Cassis, cherry and coconut aromas are toasty and offer a minerally note. Lively and juicy across the palate, this Maipo Cabernet brings a typical Chilean mix of plum, currant, herb, spice and chocolate flavors. A dry, peppery finish shows some unresolved oak, meaning this has more time to mature.” – 91 Points
