Introduction

Hahn Winery SLH Pinot Noir Rose 2015

Wine Spectator – “A graceful style that’s medium-weight, with spicy, floral flavors of wilted rose and raspberry. Well-focused and persistent, maintaining its graceful balance and ending clean, with fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2022. ” – 90 Points

Sextant SLH Pinot Noir 2014

It starts with the fragrance of wild strawberries, lavender, and anise, then followed on the mid-palate by cherries and loamy earthen notes with black truffles at the edges. Elegant tannins and balanced acidity provide a layered frame with hints of red currants and black tea pleasantly trailing on the finish. This wine has the depth of fruit conducive to aging several years, but can be enjoyed now especially with fresh pasta with a light marinara sauce, grilled prawns with a lime squeeze, or roasted quail wrapped in grape leaves and bacon.

Wine Advocate -

“A vineyard you don’t see very often, but called a hidden gem in the appellation by winemaker Michael Thomas, the 2014 Pinot Noir Boekenoogen Vineyard comes from a higher elevation site located right in the middle of the appellation, just to the north of Garys’ Vineyard. It’s a big, fruit-forward, sexy Pinot Noir that offers lots of strawberry and cherry fruit intermixed with notions of spring flowers and spice. Charming, medium to full-bodied and ready to go.”

Roar SLH Pinot Noir 2015

Drawing on aspects of all of the vineyards, the 2015 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a wonderful expression of what the region has to offer. Dark fruit, leather, and toasted oak with light overtones of honey evolve into blackberry, cola and cherry, opening to include chocolate shavings and floral accents. A woody, almost evergreen, perfume enriches the lower-tone fruit through a long, dense, meaty finish full of tobacco, leather, cherry and blackberry.

Wine Enthusiast -
“This wine is an interesting journey from sniff to sip. Aromas of condensed pomegranate, hibiscus and red plum are lifted by crushed slate, light clove, marjoram and a whiff of smoke. Full flavors of red plum and cranberry start the palate, then come waves of herbaceous oregano, thyme and pepper, before the red fruit returns toward the finish.” – 92 Points
