Established in 2004, SEXTANT WINERY is devoted to expanding the horizons of the central coast wine region by utilizing the unmatchable terroir with old world varietal selections. This allows it to grow grapes to their optimal maturity, creating unique wines of supreme quality. With premier growing grounds along the California Central Coast, Sextant Winery takes great pride in planting clean certified Sunridge Nursery ENTAV/INRA nursery stock. Allowing the rich terroir of the land to nurture the vines ensuring richness and unsurpassed quality which is honored by producing wines that reflect an uncompromised quality. Sommelier Ashlie Leslie with Sextant Winery and Sue Schlunegger with Free Run Juice handpicked the following wines for this special tasting event:

Sextant Central Coast Chardonnay 2015 – Elegant body perfumed with orange blossoms and apple aromas. Ample flavors of crisp pears, chewy apricots, and toasted walnuts are accented with fine hits of nutmeg, almonds, and peach-pie crust. There’s a charming buttery quality, with a slender puff of marshmallow, on the sumptuous and creamy finish.
90 points – Wine Enthusiastic

Sextant Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2014 – Wild raspberry and strawberry layers rush the palate as graphite, slate, and dried fig notes become evident. Silky tannings with a twinge of rustic earthiness point to village wines of Old Burgundy; however, the Central Coast provenance and the sunny but cool growing conditions of the MacGregor Vineyard shine through. This wine simply offers comparable complexity and finesse. The balanced finish tapers slowly with lasting nuances of lavender and anise.

Sextant “Holystone’ Zinfandel 2012 – From the first very first sip, a seamless cascade of red berry fruits splash and entice the palate. Raspberries, cranberries, and plums meander freely amidst silky tannins around a savory and earthy core. Bright acidity provides the juicy traction for the flavors to coalesce as hints of leather, cinnamon, and eucalyptus chime in. The saucy finish lingers, stretching the profile in a mouthwatering flourish.
90 Points – Wine Spectator ; 90 points – Wine Enthusiastic;

Sextant Night Watch 2012 – While blends should never be lacking in texture, complexity should figure most prominently for the completeness of an assembled wine. The 2012 Sextant Night Watch delivers in grand style. Blackberries and figs are woven together while cedar and sandalwood notes appear. Hints of cardamom and red currants operate at the edges as lively tannins allow the layers to coalesce. Tinged with slate and mesquite notes, the finish rolls to a satisfying end with complexity having been displayed.
91 points – Wine Spectator

Sextant Kamal Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 (New Release) – Complexity without complication. The Sextant Wines 2014 Kamal brings the vineyard to your glass. Thoroughness in the winemaking with respect for the conditions of the growing season is required for this noble varietal. A cherry lining underscores this vintage with eucalyptus and cedar notes at the periphery. Red currants, tobacco leaves, and figs emerge as the range of the profile becomes evident, the tannins having framed a velvety texture. On the finish, the components show well with enjoyable balance and linear elegance. This wine is crafted without compromise.
