Chardonnay is the world’s most famous white-wine grape and also one of the most widely planted. Although the most highly regarded expressions of the variety are those from Burgundy and California, many high-quality examples are made in Italy, Australia, New Zealand and parts of South America. It is a green-skinned grape variety and the grape itself is very neutral. Many of the flavors of Chardonnay wine are commonly associated with the grape being derived from such influences as terroir and oak. It is vinified in many different styles, from the lean, crisply mineral wines of Chablis, France to New World wines with oak, and tropical fruit flavors of Southern California and Australia.

Domaine Vrignaud Chablis 2015 (Burgundy)
Chablis region is the northernmost wine district of the Burgundy region in France. The grapevines around the town of Chablis are almost all Chardonnay, making a dry white wine renowned for the purity of its aroma and taste. Domaine Vrignaud is known for producing excellent, mineral driven Chablis wines. The 2015 Chablis is a pale yellow wine with notes of white fruits, lemon and grapefruit. On the palate, this is a pure and lively wine which has good acidity and notes of ripe apple.

Sextant Chardonnay 2015 (Central Coast)
The 2015 Sextant Central Coast Chardonnay is vibrant on the nose, exploding with vanilla, mango and a lithe oral perfume. Bound by the tension of perfectly balanced acidity and wet stone minerality the mid-palate of this wine explodes with ripe pineapple, Granny Smith Apple, and lemongrass. A mouth watering nish of Meyer Lemon with a touch of oak strikes a perfect balance on this new classic style of Chardonnay. 90 Points – Wine Enthusiast

Westerly Happy Valley Chardonnay 2014 (Santa Barbara)
This wine exhibits many of the classic characteristics of Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay- the palate is defined by precise minerality and bright acidity, with flavors of dried pears and citrus zest. Length is a feature of this wine- the palate is long and complex with a lovely clean citrus finish which lingers for quite a while. Drink now through 2019.

Stags’ Leap Napa Chardonnay 2015 (Napa Valley)
Aromas of bright lemon citrus, fresh green apple with hints of subtle elderflower fill the glass and pique your interest in this crisp Chardonnay. On the palate, you’ll find a classic refreshing Chardonnay with a vibrancy of citrus that transitions into lemon curd while also maintaining a roundness in texture that is balanced (hinting at the delicate battonage lees stirring during the winemaking process). With a nutty hazelnut undertone and spicy white pepper, exotic floral finish, this wine is focused, yet generous in style and maintains freshness due to its acidity which creates a Chardonnay of lovely complexity and depth.

Rombauer Chardonnay 2015 (Carneros)
Enticing aromas of ripe apple, bright citrus and melon are layered with creme brulee, baking spices and a touch of butter. Vibrant flavors of tropical fruit, baked apple, citrus and white peach meld with vanilla, baking spices and toasted nuts on the creamy, smooth palate. The finish is juicy with mouthwatering acidity that makes you crave another sip. Our favorite Joy of Cooking® pairings* for this wine include Tuna-Avocado Burgers, Lobster Rolls and Fettuccine with Salmon and Asparagus.
