South African Tasting

Our wine tour of the world continues with South Africa!

This is a region with a long history of wine making, yet many people are not familiar with the variety and styles of wines from South Africa.

Even more interesting is to pair these wines with the food that they were meant to be shared with. South African cuisine reflects the many cultures that have contributed to the area including British, Dutch, Indian, and original African cultures.

We have assembled six great wines from South Africa and paired them with three superb samples of the regional cuisine.

The Wines:

  • Villiera Chenin Blanc 2008
  • Villiera “Down to Earth” White Blend 2009
  • Black Pearl Oro 2006
  • Edgebaston “The Pepper Pot” 2008
  • Delheim Pinotage 2006
  • One Stroke One Shiraz 2005

The Food:

  • Pirpiri Shrimp on Spring Greens (Mildly spicy with a zesty-but-cool yogurt dill sauce)
  • Curry Chicken Potjie (Red wine chicken dish with masala spice, tomatoes, coriander and fennel).
  • Monkehy Gland Steak (Chutney Cube Steak served in small strips with a truffled mashed potatoes).

The wine tasting only is just $20 per person.  Wine with the pairing meal is just $35 per person and includes all three courses.  All featured wines are available for purchase at 10% off.

Reservations are highly recommended – call 949 589-1156 for a reservation.
